Heyyy SuperTeachers,
You might be hearing this for the first time, and I know I may lose some of you—but it needs to be said. Our young people are special! They are the most precious gift we have in the present, and if nurtured with care and intention, they will be the gift that keeps on giving for generations to come.
Can you imagine being a student navigating today’s world—balancing personal, social, academic, and even digital realities, all while trying to grow into themselves?
Just think about a typical school day… actually, let’s take it a step further, shadow a student for an entire day. I guarantee you’ll walk away mentally and physically exhausted, with a renewed appreciation for what our K-12 students experience daily.

So, let’s pamper our protégés!
What does it take from us to show students a little love and care? Absolutely nothing.
But let’s address some of the common concerns that might make you hesitate.
Being “nice” will make students think I’m soft or easily manipulated.
Pampering with purpose is key!
Celebrate both academic effort and progress—because when students see that their hard work matters, they’re more likely to stay engaged.
Reminder: student effort isn’t about lowering expectations; it’s about reinforcing that effort leads to achievement.
Some students don’t “deserve” kindness.
Every student deserves to be seen and valued.
Even those who struggle academically (and behaviorally) can be acknowledged for their perseverance. Sometimes, all it takes is trying to bridge the gap between where they are and where they need to be.
There’s no time for niceties—IT’S TESTING SEASON!
This is exactly why we should pamper them now.
Testing season can be overwhelming, and small, intentional moments of encouragement can help students push through.
How to Pamper with Purpose
When?
Mid-term of the first quarter/trimester
End of the quarter/trimester
Before winter break
During testing season (yes, right now!)
How?
Positive call or text home
Certificate of recognition
Small treat/snack
Homework pass or dropped lowest homework grade
These moments of recognition give students something to look forward to and a reason to keep pushing forward. And as you build this into your classroom culture, you’ll see how it shifts student motivation.
This August, the Academy is launching a 1-year virtual residency for K-12 teachers, a space to reflect, strategize, and refine the way we engage and empower students. We'll be setting the foundation for an incredible school year!
If you’re looking for more ways to intentionally support and energize your students, I’d love to collaborate with you! Let’s finish strong.
