Heyyy SuperTeachers,
It’s easy to feel like the days spent proctoring are just lost time. But guess what? They don’t have to be. Instead of feeling anxious or like you're “wasting” those hours, use this time to think about how you can wrap up the year strong and set the stage for next year’s success.
Let's take some time to reflect on the things that are within our sphere of control.
SuperTeachers, what’s going well?
Take a moment to celebrate those wins!
Especially if you’re a first-year teacher, pat yourself on the back. The fact that you’re navigating this year—when things have been anything but ordinary—is a huge accomplishment. You and your students are showing up and doing your best, and that’s something worth acknowledging and celebrating.
Now, let’s talk about those challenges. It’s easy to focus on what’s not going right, but I encourage you to reframe those challenges as opportunities. Opportunities for growth, for change, and for making an impact that will last beyond this school year.
What's a work in Progress?
Let’s break them down into categories that will help you manage your time and energy as we finish up the year.
1. What You Can Tackle Right Now
Take a look at the opportunities you want to focus on in these final months of school. What can you work on today that will have the biggest impact on your students’ learning and engagement?
These last few months are crucial—not only to wrap up the year but to set your students up for success in the next grade. Be intentional with how you use your time, and prioritize activities that will enhance your students’ learning experience.
2. What You’ll Circle Back to Over the Summer
What are the opportunities you want to revisit? This might be a new teaching strategy, an assessment tool, or even a curriculum tweak. Add these ideas to your Google Calendar for a late-July or early-August date. In the notes section, jot down a quick note about why this idea stood out to you and how you envision it impacting your practice in the new school year. Prepping for the upcoming year starts now!
3. What’s on Your Wish List
And then there’s the stuff that might be more of a someday project. These are the things you’d like to do, but if they don’t happen—no worries. The key is to let go of the pressure and allow yourself the grace to focus on what really matters in the moment.
As we all know, the last few months are just as important as the first few. So be strategic with your energy and your focus, and remember—whether it’s a small win or a big challenge, you are making a difference in your students’ lives.

This August, the Academy will be launching a 1-year virtual residency for K-12 teachers. If you’re ready to make some transformational changes to your teaching practice, let's talk about how coaching can support you on that journey.
